For all Canadians who grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada, you might not have known there was a contest out for a new Theme Song.
The old theme song is as popular to Canadians as the national anthem (maybe more so). Heck, I bet 1 out of every 3 males could hum the tune right off the top of their head.
Anyways, a new song will take place from here on in. If you’re interested in hearing it on the Internet, just click here or here.
What do you think of it?
PS. The old theme song is here.
Which do you like better?
i’m partial to the old one, but I’m sure the new one will grow on me. I’ll have to let it sink in for 30or 40 years first.
I have listened to both versions.
This is my verdict.
The hockey theme song must be an acquired taste. The old song sounds like Dallas at the beginning, then oscillates between western and seventies series music.
The new one sounds like a Scottish entry at the Eurovision Song Contest.
I am very disappointed. I might even not watch Canadian Hockey this season to express my dissent.
nathaliewithanha: ha-ha. I agree. The old version was subliminally forced into all Canadian ears for 40 years and therefore we like it. The new one sounds Celtic to me but I’m sure as Ross pointed out, after 30 or 40 years, it’ll sound great too!
Back to work slacker!
